Description

Subseries D, Other papers, 1685-1966, undated (bulk, 1766-1858) (#5.11-5.14, 6.17-6.20, 6.22, OB.5.10, OV.x.x), contains conveyances; indentures; genealogical material; deed extracts regarding Otis family property; real estate clippings; and a petition regarding David and Thomas Carnes. Also included in the subseries is a piece of sheet music entitled "Otis's Quick Step" (#5.12), and copy of Historical and Genealogical Memoir of the Otis Family in America compiled by W.A. Otis (dates unknown). The Memoir is comprised of original letters and notes (hand-written and type-written) that have been glued to the blank pages of a bound scrapbook; loose material found at the end of the scrapbook is also included (#6.22). The subseries also contains a folder of unrelated papers comprised of correspondence; promissory notes and other financial records; a set of architectural sketches; and a 1790 Massachusetts state lottery ticket (#6.21). The subseries is arranged alphabetically by record type.
