Description

Photo album titled: "Mantels: Louis XIII - XIV - XV & Empire 52C." Title is hand printed in black on front cover; title, subtitle, and volume number are hand printed in black on spine. Album has a beige fabric covering and 78 dark gray pages, 39 of which are blank. Album contains 39 mounted black-and-white photographs. Photographs depict fireplace mantels located in a variety of French royal palaces and other buildings. All but two are labeled with the location. Thirteen have handwritten numbers on the photograph. Buildings named include: Bibliotheque de l'Arsenal, Chateau Fontainbleau, Le Grand Trianon, Le Louvre, Musee Carnavalet, and Versailles. Mantels depicted are not the work of A. H. Davenport, Irving and Casson , or Irving & Casson - A. H. Davenport. It is assumed that the album was used as a design reference.
