Description

Photo album titled: "Church Furniture Liberal 17." Title is hand printed on a round paper label affixed to spine; volume number is also printed on a paper label affixed to spine. Album has a heavy textured dark brown covering and is held together with two metal brads. Album has 96 olive green pages; eight of the pages are blank. Album contains 88 mounted black-and-white photographs. Photographs are of a variety of church furniture including lecterns, arm chairs, side chairs and other seating forms manufactured by A. H. Davenport Co., Irving and Casson, and their successor, Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co. The order number and year are often shown on a display in the photographs. Customer names are handwritten on three album pages. Named customers are: 2nd Church of Christ Scientist; St. Stephen's (Ridgefield, CT); and Mrs. Cora J. Wilson. Also included after the last page of the album is a loose section of "The Catholic News" dated November 8, 1934. Pages 13 through 16 have several articles describing the newly opened Chapel of the Miraculous Medal at St. Joseph's College in Princeton, New Jersey. The last paragraph of an article on page 15 credits the firm of Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport with the production of all the carved and decorative furnishings of the church including the triptych stalls and carved figures.
