Description

Photo album titled: "Early American Interiors 64." Title is hand printed on a round paper label affixed to spine; volume number is also printed on a paper label affixed to spine. Album has a heavy textured dark brown paper covering and is held together with two metal brads. Album has 74 olive green pages; five of the pages are blank. Album contains 69 mounted black-and-white photographs. Photographs are of a number of room interiors from the Colonial and Federal eras. Some rooms in the photographs are furnished while others are empty. Photographs focus on the woodwork in rooms, particularly fireplace mantels. None of the items shown were manufactured by A. H. Davenport Co., Irving and Casson, or their successor, Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co.The photographs presumably were part of a reference library for the firms. The houses in the photographs are not identified; however, five photos are dated from 1911 or 1913 and are copyrighted by Frank Cousins or Frank Cousins Art Co. These are found on pages 12, 34, 35, 41, and 67.
