Photo album titled: "Modern Furniture / S. S. Borinquen / 95." Title is hand printed on a round paper label affixed to spine. Subtitle and volume number are handwritten on separate retangular paper labels affixed to spine. Album has a heavy textured dark brown covering and is held together with two metal brads. Album has 108 olive green pages; fourteen of the pages are blank. Album contains 95 mounted black-and-white photographs. Photographs are of a variety of furniture forms manufactured by Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co. between 1925 and 1935. Forms include arm chairs, side chairs, swivel chairs, cabinets, tables and beds. The order number or model number and year are often shown on a display in the photographs; model numbers are also present in some case. Customer names are handwritten on some pages. Named customers include: Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp. (Quincy, MA); Eastern Steamship Co.; Hotel Continental (Cambridge, MA); Irving Trust Company (New York, NY); Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company (Newport News, VA); and North German Lloyd Steamship Co. (Boston, MA). Also included in the album are a photograph of an office interior and a photomechanical print of an interior elevation. The S.S. Borinquen was a steamship that was launched in 1930 and built by the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp, a client of Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co.; however, it is not possible at this time to associate specific photographs in the album with the vessel. Digital images of a selection of photographs from the album are attached to this record.
