Description

Series I, Correspondence, 1925-1983, undated (#C.1.1-C.2.9), contains personal correspondence received and sent by Isa (Frank) Gropius (1897-1983) and Walter Adolph Georg Gropius (1883-1969). The correspondence are with family, friends, and acquaintances and include cards, clippings, letters, postcards, telegrams, photographs, printed material, and related. The majority of the correspondence are comprised of letters belonging to Ise and center on her relationships with relatives in Germany, especially with her sister, Ellen Frank (dates unknown), and the Burchard family. Most of the correspondence is in German. The series is arranged alphabetically by surname, followed chronologically by other correspondence.
