Pen script at center bottom: ""SBL"" In pen script on reverse is ""Seth Brown Lewis born 1818 died 1861/ dates on his tombstone in Knotty Oak Cemetary/ born in Exter R.I. his home in Washington R.I./ had been a Tavern in the old stage coach days./ He kept a store there and for a long time/ was mail agent from Prov. to Hartford./ His son Albert Baily Lewis born 1843/ died 1921. Then the estate was sold and I/ bought this picture because of its quaintness.""
