This series contains correspondence, drafts, photographs, and related research accumulated while Nina Fletcher Little was working on the various editions of her book American Decorative Wall Painting (1952, 1972, and 1989). These files, originally contained in five record cartons, relate to the study of early American murals, architectural painting, and floor painting. In the course of her research, Little attributed many wall paintings in New England homes to itinerant and regional artists, such as Rufus Porter. She also researched early nineteenth-century paint recipes.
