Description

This series contains papers related to exhibitions that Bertram K. and Nina Fletcher Little contributed to through object loans and/or research and writing. Papers include correspondence, photographs, articles, article drafts, exhibition catalogues, clippings, research material, and other papers.

There are many other sections of the collection containing files related to the Littles' work on exhibitions. Researchers may want to consult the Exhibitions Catalogues, Pamphlets, and Other Publications series, which contains catalogues for many exhibitions to which the Littles loaned items. The Harvard Tercentenary Exhibition files within the Bertram K. Little Archive series document Bertram Little's work on that exhibition. The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Collection (AARFAC) series contains exhibition files on the permanent installation of the AARFAC at Colonial Williamsburg; on travelling exhibitions from the AARFAC collection; and an the exhibition of objects from the Littles' collection, Land and Seascape as Observed by the Folk Artist. Lastly, there are files related to the New England Provincial Artists, 1775-1800 exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, contained within the Individual Artists series. Some of the exhibition files in the Individual Artists series are filed under "New England Provincial," while others are filed under the names of artists represented in the exhibition. Selina Fletcher Little provided a list of the relevant artist files, which has been transcribed at the end of this series description.

The archival processor created the arrangement, rather than Selina Fletcher Little, in order to unite clusters of papers pertaining exhibitions. These exhibition files were found scattered in miscellaneous cartons and were not associated with any other series arranged by Selina F. Little.
