This series contains files on loans that Nina Fletcher Little made to museums for temporary exhibitions. Most of the files are for bicentennial era exhibitions. The papers include correspondence, loan forms, shipping receipts, and information on the exhibitions. The majority of the files are restricted because they include insurance valuations for the loaned objects.
Researchers interested in a comprehensive list of objects that the Littles loaned to museum exhibitions should consult the appendix to Elena Sarni's essay, "The Collection of Nina Fletcher and Bertram Kimball Little: A Living Legacy," which contains a chronological table of all of the Littles' loans to museums. This essay is located in the Elena Sarni Project series within the Additions record group. Researchers may also want to review the Exhibition Catalogues, Pamphlets, and Other Publications series and the Exhibitions series. There is also information about loans the Littles made to the Folk Arts Center Institute in the Lectures, Seminars and Forums series.
Note: In her bibliography for her essay, Elena Sarni states that she consulted exhibition loan forms from the 1930s-1980s, suggesting a much larger group of files than are contained in this series. These were the only loan files found when the collection was processed in 2007-2008.
