Design drawing titled "Sofa of Mahogany" rendered in pencil and ink on trace. Perspective view is shown. Empire-style sofa has upholstered back below slightly concave crest rail with carved concave scroll and volute at each side; upholstered seat with continuous scrolled arms; scrolled arm supports terminating in carved rosettes; straight skirt; saber legs terminating in paw feet; and upholstery with nail trim. Skirt and arm supports have carved foliage motifs; skirt has central rectangular tablet with carved ornament. Title, design notes, and "Mrs. Peter Hayden" are handwritten on drawing. Also handwritten is "Det. Oct 8 - 1903."
