"Cabinet of Mahogany"

Description

Design drawing titled "Cabinet of Mahogany" with two views. Front view is rendered in watercolor and pencil; side view is in pencil only. Drawing depicts Neoclassical-style cabinet with overhanging top; straight crest with central arch and shaped finial; recessed upper section with three glass panels; muntins on central door forming geometric shapes with central oval medallion; three glass shelves; and molded rim at lower edge; lower case with overhanging top; one shallow drawer with two round pulls; cabinet with two doors, and French feet. Extensive painted decoration includes anthemion on finial; bell flowers on glass door frames and lower cabinet stiles; geometric banding on drawer and cabinet door edges; and large oval cartouche enclosing an urn, anthemion, and bellflowers on each lower cabient door. Title and design notes are handwritten on drawing.
