Description

Design drawing titled "Mahog. 4 Post Bed" is rendered in pencil on trace. Perspective view of a bed is shown. Double tester bed has straight headboard and footboard with rounded corners and two recessed panels; posts with reeded vasiform upper section with carved acanthus leaves at base, a center section with carved inverted cup turnings and an elongated ovoid form with carved tracery, and a rectangular lower section; turned and reeded vasiform feet terminating in casters; and a tester frame attached to posts. Tester has a flat top and a cornice with dentil molding and is shown with a fabric valence. Not all details are fully executed in drawing. Title, numerous design notes, and "Raymond Hoagland / N. Y. order No. 13366" are handwritten on drawing. Stamped on drawing is "June 26 1901."
