"Mementos: Jewelry of Life and Love from Historic New England": Beate "Ati" Gropius, an artist and teacher like her mother, had a strong sense of personal style. Ati's second husband, architect John Johansen, liked to design and make jewelry for her, often from found objects. These were not comfortable pieces of jewelry. They were statements.
