Description

Design drawing titled "Toilet Table of White Mahog. Painted Decoration" rendered in pencil on trace. Front view of dressing table and attached mirror is shown. Toilet or dressing table has rectangular form; overhanging top; two drawers flanking shallower center drawer; curved brackets below center drawer; and tapered square legs with cuffs. Mirror frame has arabesque top and bottom rails and is supported by two columnar arms with ovoid finials. Each arm attaches to top of three stacked recessed shallow drawers with curved bracket above; two sections of drawers are joined with shaped piece conforming to bottom of mirror. Extensive painted decorative motifs over entire piece include motifs such as bellflowers, baskets of flowers, garlands, swags, and bows. Title, design notes, "Mrs. Solomon Lincoln 31024," "11897" and "Cal" are handwritten on drawing.
