Description

Design drawing titled "Desk Painted White & Gold" rendered in pencil on trace. Front and side views are shown; plan of top is also provided. Fall-front desk has upper section with curving, arched crest, carved volutes and molding; one recessed upper shelf with concave front supported by two Ionic columns atop fall-front-cabinet; molded top edge on cabinet; one shallow drawer with two round pulls and key escutcheon below cabinet; four square legs; lower shelf with concave front above turned feet. Front of cabinet and drawer have painted Neoclassical-style decoration including basket of flowers, swags and garlands. Title, design notes, "Made for W. C. Whitney," "11356" and "N. Y. 3395 / Job 17432" are handwritten on drawing.
