"Secretary of Mahogany"

Description

Design drawing titled "Secretary of Mahogany" rendered in pencil on trace. Front and side views are shown; plan of interior pigeonhole arrangement is also provided. Neoclassical-style secretary-bookcase has broken scroll pediment with carved rosettes and three urn finials; upper case with two interior shelves, glass doors, and wood muntins arranged in an arched pattern; lower case with hinged slant-front with key escutcheon concealing an inner writing surface, eleven pigeonholes, two visible drawers, and one secret drawer; two lopers with round pulls; three graduated drawers with key escutcheon, two bail handles and oval plates on each; shaped skirt; and bracket feet. Title, design notes, "Miss Chalfant" and "Det. Nov. 21 - 1903 R. B." are handwritten on drawing.
