Desk has recessed top case with two drawers and eighteen pigeonholes; curved sides above writing surface; rectangular overhanging top with carved molded edge; two banks of four drawers with bail handles; retractable writing surface above each set of drawers; shallow center drawer; and base. Elaborate carving adorns desk including egg-and-dart molding on front top edges and top of side panels; scrolls, rosettes and carved fruit garlands on sides; carved foliate and geometric motifs on front stiles; cartouche, foliage and intertwined molding on center drawer front; and two large projecting fluted scrolls carved with foliate motifs at lower front. "Prudential Ins. Co. Pres. Office N. Y. O. 14480" and "2198 / 41325" are handwritten on drawing. The date "1902" is also handwritten.
