Earthenware plate depicting "Sugaring" scene. Plate is one of a set of twelve in the series "New England Industries" featuring black monochrome images adapted from wood engravings by Clare Leighton. Scenes include: codfishing; cranberrying; farming; grist milling; ice cutting; lobstering; logging; marble quarrying; ship building; sugaring; tobacco growing; whaling.
