Writing Desk

Description

Untitled design drawing rendered in pencil on trace. Front view is shown; plan of top is also provided. Writing desk has D-shaped case; overhanging conforming top; two drawers with bail handles on each side of a shallow center drawer; inlaid stringing and bellflowers on stiles; and four tapered square legs with turned feet. Recessed compartment at center rear of top has curved backboard with two vertical open slots and two shallow drawers. Brass fretwork galley on either side of top of storage compartment extends to the center of the sides. Title, design notes, "4561" and "Mar. 6 - 1907 / J. B. W." are handwritten on drawing. The following list of customers is also handwritten: "35366 Stock / 36983 E. M. Carey / 37337 Stock / 38292 MacKay."
