Description

Design drawing titled "Antique Work Table of mahogany and inlay" rendered in pencil on trace. Front and side views are shown; details of top, base, and interior are also provided. Neoclassical-style work table has hinged rectangular overhanging top with inlaid border, quarter fans and central patera; apron with inlaid borders, one drawer with two round pulls, and one slide with a round pull holding a silk-covered work basket; two flattened lyre-shaped legs with inlay trim and pierced openings; rectangular base with inlaid border and central patera; and short block feet. Inside of hinged top has an inlaid border surrounding a mirror. Interior of case has nurmerous cubbyholes and storage compartments. Title, design notes and "Mrs. J. M. Lasell" are handwritten on drawing. Title is partially cut off.
