This series includes two articles which provide additional information about the collection. The first, "Beacon" by Katherine Rich (published in Old-Time New England) discusses William Sumner Appleton, Jr., his family, and his founding of the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities (now Historic New England). The second, "History of the Town of Keene, New York" describes the development of the hotel industry and private camps in Keene, New York, including the Putnam-Bowditch Camp.
