"Bureau of Mahogany"

Description

Design drawing titled "Bureau of Mahogany" rendered in pencil on trace. Front and side views are shown. Rectangular bureau has overhanging top; backboard with concave ends; five drawers in a two-over-three arrangement; top two drawers with convex curved fronts; carved basket of fruit on rectangular panel between two top drawers; round glass pulls on lower drawers; turned columnar stiles with foliate and spiral carvings and carved acanthus leaves at top; straight skirt; and tapered round feet with carved acanthus leaves. Oval mirror is attached to bureau at backboard by two S-shaped arms with carved scrolls and foliage. Title, design notes, "Mrs. W. T. White" and "Detailed May 5 - 1903 - J.P.H." are handwritten on drawing. J. P. H. refers to James P. Harrington, a designer emplyed at A. H. Davenport Co.
