"Dressing Table of French Walnut"

Description

Design drawing titled "Dressing Table of French Walnut" rendered in pencil on trace. Front view is shown; plan of top is also provided. Rectangular dressing table has slightly recessed center section; overhanging top; three drawers on either side of shallow center drawer; bail handles on side drawers; carved, painted or inlaid scrolling garlands on shallow center drawer; tapered fluted legs with cuffed cylindrical feet. Rectangular mirror has arched crest; narrow carved frame; and carved foliate wreath at top. Mirror is attached to backboard by two tapered supporting columns with carved finials, reeded bodies, and fluted bases. Each supporting column base is joined by a carved swag to a short fluted column with domed top at rear corner of top. Title, design notes, "For Mrs. Geo. Pratt 39494" and "Apr. 15 - 1907 / J. B. W" are handwritten on drawing.
