"Arm Chair"

Description

Design drawing titled "Arm Chair" rendered in ink on trace. Perspective view is shown. Chippendale-style arm chair has shaped crest with carved scrolled ears and central foliate motif; pierced splat with Gothic tracery pattern; molded stiles; curved arms with scrolled handholds and curved arm supports; seat with over-the-rail upholstery and single row of metal tacks along bottom edge; raked rear legs; and cabriole front legs with acanthus-carved knees and ball-and-claw feet. Title and "575" are handwritten on drawing. Stamped in lower right corner but partially cut off is: "To be returned to / A. H. Davenport, Co. / 96 Washington St. / Boston, Mass." Companion side chair is CC010.001.006.005.003.
