William and Mary-style side chair has back which cants backward; heavily carved scrolled crest rail; splat with rectangular caned panel flanked by carved double scrolls; conforming bottom rail; turned vasiform stiles with ring turnings and rectangular blocks at rails; ball finials; caned seat; turned columnar rear legs; turned front legs with rectangular blocks at stretchers; plain rectangular stretchers on upper sides and front; turned H-stretchers; and heavily carved front stretcher with double scrolls. Design notes and "Mrs. Potter / Oct 7 - 1901 J. P. H." are handwritten on drawing.
