Side chair has canted back with shaped arched crest rail; rectangular caned panel; and straight lower rail; stiles and legs with rectangular block, vasiform and ring turnings; ball finials on stiles; and rectangular H-stretcher. Stiles, finials, crest rail and legs have red, green, and gold painted decoration. Design notes, "Gen. Hayes" and "769" are handwritten on drawing. Related design is CC010.001.006.039.009.
