Side Chair

Description

Untitled design drawing rendered in pencil on trace. Perspective view is shown. Side chair has deep rectangular crest rail with shallow lower rail below; shaped square stiles with scrolled ends at top; upholstered seat with single row of metal tacks along bottom edge; molded straight seat rails with curved corner blocks in front; raked tapered square rear legs; and tapered round front legs with ring turnings and cylindrical feet. A rough sketch shows an alternative design for the top of the front legs. Design notes, "W. C. Hawes / 46955 / May 10 -1905" and "776" are handwritten on drawing. Also handwritten but only faintly visible is "See Springfield / Ins. Co."
