William and Mary-style side chair has rectangular back with molded rails and stiles framing caned panel; crest rail with concave ends; plain stiles beneath lower rail; seat with over-the-rail upholstery and fringe or ruffle at bottom edge; raked rear legs with block turnings; front legs with ring, block, vasiform and ovoid turnings and scrolled feet; turned rear and side stretchers; and high front stretcher with large vasiform turnings. A note about a related arm chair, "Also made for J. M. Lasell" and "13020" are handwritten on drawing.
