Very ornate William and Mary-style arm chair has arched crest rail; conforming lower back rail; rectangular caned back panel with arched top and enclosed by carved stiles; stiles with ring, ovoid, cylinder and block turnings; caned seat with narrow carved seat rails; legs with block, ovoid and ring turnings; bun feet; rear and side stretchers; and large carved front stretcher. Chair features very elaborate and oversized carving with foliate and scroll motifs on all wood surfaces. "E. R. Pierce / Like Job 48698 / Nov. 16 - 1906" is handwritten on drawing.
