William and Mary-style side chair has arched crest rail; conforming lower back rail; rectangular caned back panel enclosed by carved sides; stiles with ovoid, vasiform and ring turnings; large acorn finials; rush seat; turned rear legs; front legs with ovoid turnings followed by S-shaped double scrolls; turned rear and H-stretchers; and large carved front stretcher. Chair features oversized carving with foliate and scroll motifs on crest and lower back rails, stiles and front stretcher.
