William and Mary-style side chair has tall back; carved scrolled crest rail with small shell at center; molded lower rail with gently curved bottom edge; narrow rectangular splat with caned panel having curved ends; turned round columnar stiles with rectangular blocks at rails; ball finials; rush seat; raked cylinder and block rear legs; front legs with vasiform, ring and rectangular block turnings and ball feet; rectangular rear stretcher; turned side stretchers; and large carved scrolled front stretcher similar to crest rail. Design notes and "Hofer" ae handwritten on drawing.
