Description

Untitled scrapbook. Scrapbook has red fabric cover and is held together by twine laced through six eyelets. The number "7" is handwritten on spine. Scrapbook contains 50 pages. The bulk of the materials are clippings from 19th century and 20th century periodicals, catalogs, and magazines, such as "Arts and Decoration," "House and Garden," "Country Life," and "The American Architect." The majority of clippings depict a wide variety of sideboards, cupboards, cabinets (in particular, Victrola cabinets), and chests. Additional forms depicted include hutches, sarcophagi, coffers, folio cupboards, armoires, writing tables, library tables, and bureaus. Most of the pieces date from the 15th through the early 20th centuries and are from Europe, China, and the United States. One desk shown on page 49 is noted as being made by Irving & Casson.
