One of many views related to the early United States and its history that appear in the online exhibit "Patriotic America."The tower is located on Talcon Mountain, overlooking the Connecticut River Valley and lake. It was built in 1810 by Daniel Wadsworth in the Town of Avon, near his home, "Monte Video." The structure was hexagonal in shape and was 55 feet tall. It became a popular tourist destination. The tower was blown down in 1840, but rebuilt.
