Description

Portfolio titled: "Duplicate Photographs" Title is printed in black on a red-edged paper label affixed to the front of the portfolio. Portfolio has a dark gray fabric covering and dark gray fabric ties. A book plate is glued inside the front cover and reads: "Irving / and / Casson / Custom Furniture, / Interior Finish, / Wood Mantel, / Decorations and / Upholstery. / Church Furniture. / 150 Boylston St. / Boston." Handwritten on the inside front cover is "No. 5."

The portoflio contains includes 219 loose photographs (including cyanotypes) arranged by subject matter in ten paper folders with handwritten titles. The subject categories are: "Mantels," "Desks," "Sideboards and Serving Tables," "Graphophone Cases," "Cabinets and Chests," "Chairs and Sofas," "Church Furniture," "Chamber Furniture," " Clock Cases," and "Miscelaneous [sic] Tables," Sixteen unfiled loose photographs are on top of the packets. The photographs depict a variety of furnishings made by Irving and Casson and Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co. It does not appear rhat any of the furnishings were made by A. H. Davenport Co. before its 1913-1914 merger with Irving and Casson.

The order number and year are often shown on a display in the photographs; model numbers are also present in some cases. Customer names are handwritten on some album pages.
