John Galen Howard (1984-1931) and James M. Wood designed the Cutler Majestic Theatre (originally the Majestic Theatre), which opened on Febuary 16, 1903 on 219 Tremont Street, Boston, MA. Howard did the general design, while Wood designed the interior. Originally opened for opera, it was converted to vaudeville in the 1920s, then to a movies-only theatre in the 1950s. It is currently owned by Emerson College, who uses it as a performance center. It was renamed the Cutler Majestic Theatre after renovation donors, Ted and Joan Benard-Cutler.
