The Northfield Inn in East Northfield, Massachusetts, was built in 1888 by evangelist Dwight L. Moody, to accommodate summer visitors attending his religious conferences. Built on 60 uncultivated acres of the former Oran Holton Farm, the 37-bedroom hotel was used by Moody as the Northfield Bible Training School in its early years. The inn was renovated in later years to total 120 guest rooms. In 1930, the 125-acre Schell Estate was purchased and added to the inn. The house on that property, The Chateau, was used as guest rooms for the inn. The Northfield Inn closed its doors permanently on November 22, 1976.
