Description

Box containing 62 unbound photo album pages, fourteen of which are blank. Pages contain 48 mounted black-and-white photographs. Photographs are of a variety of furnishings manufactured by A. H. Davenport Co., Irving and Casson, and their successor, Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co. Most of the photos depict church-related furnishings such as lecterns, pulpits, pews and altar rails; however, there are also photos of chaise longues, arm chairs, benches and a library table.The order number and year are often shown on a display in the photographs; model numbers have also been provided in some cases. Customer names are handwritten on some album pages.
Named customers include: All Saints Church (Whitman, MA); Christ Church (Cranbrook, MI); Christ Church (Hamilton, MA); Church of the Ascension (Montgomery, AL); First German Evangelistic Lutheran Church (Pittsburgh, PA); Park Avenue M. E. Church (New York, NY); St. Andrew's Chapel (Flushing, NY): and St. Patrick's. Digital images of a selection of the photographs are attached to this record. Pages appear to have been taken from other photo albums in the collection as some have handwritten notes to return photo to a particular album in New York. Album numbers 20 - Lecterns (CC010.002.102), 21 - Pews (CC010.002.103), 25 - Choir Seats (CC010.002.107), 43 - Benches (CC010.002.121), and 62 - Dining Room Chairs (CC010.002.140) are specifically mentioned.
