Description

Untitled sketch rendered in pencil on trace of an armchair. Perspective view is shown. Upholstered chair has wide back with carved arched crest rail; carved foliate ornament at center of crest rail; high flaring sides with curved tops; arm supports with molded edges and carved foliate scrolls at top and bottom; rectangular box seat; carved corner blocks and seat rail with carved scrolling center drop ornament; and tapered square legs with block feet. One leg is shown with carved ornament on entire surface. Handwritten on drawing are "Mrs. W. Rockefeller" and "Design A" with a line pointing to chair. Also handwritten is "Design B" with a line pointing to a faintly sketched alternate back which is higher.
