Scrapbook -- Phonograph Cabinet Designs

Description

Untitled scrapbook. Scrapbook has green and brown leather binding. Binding on spine is missing and worn in other areas. Handwritten inside front cover is: "Irving & Casson : : A. H. Davenport Co. : : 601 Fifth Avenue, N. Y." Scrapbook has 202 pages, all of which are extremely fragile and brittle. Some pages are now loose. Album contains design drawings rendered on trace depicting radio and phonograph cabinets manufactured by Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport. All drawings are rendered in pencil with the exception of one which is in pencil and watercolor. Scrapbook also contains clippings of advertisements for radios, phonographs, and cabinets as well as promotional brochures and literature from companies including Victor Talking Machine Co., Atwater Kent Manufacturing Company, Everett Piano Company, Sonora Phonograph Company, and The Poole Company. Drawings and advertisements are generally affixed to pages with glue; however, some items such as brochures are loose. A matted birthday card with a reproduction of a William Clark painting on its front is loose inside the front cover. Digital images of a selection of design drawings from the scrapbook are attached to this record.
