This calash is constructed of dark-colored (black/brown) silk with a ruffled brim and lined bavolet. The calash is supported on both interior and exterior with cane hoops stitched to the silk, two sets on the exterior and one set on the interior. Interior hoops lined with black silk. The flat center back interior is lined with white cotton. Brim is embellished with a double, piped self-fabric ruffle. Closure at neck with a black ribbon tie (left side extant). Center back of exterior embellished with black-brown bow.
