Watercolor -- Cabinet-on-Stand and Tall Case Clock

Description

Untitled design drawing rendered in watercolor. Drawing is divided into two sections. Left portion depicts front and side views of a Renaissance Revival-style cabinet-on-stand; the right portion depicts front and side views of a Renaissance Revival-style tall case clock. Cabinet-on-stand has square mirror with a heavily carved rectangular frame attached to rear of cabinet top. Mirror frame has flat top with molded edge; carved cup-and-ball shaped finials; frieze with carved circular pattern and foliate carved corners; half columns with spiral twist and Ionic-style capitals on either side of mirror; and carved griffins standing between column bases and cabinet top. Cabinet has flat top with molded edge and carved border; sides and two cabinet doors with projecting rectangular panels carved with quatrefoils; projecting columns in the form of standing griffins flanking each door; elaborately carved bottom rail with foliate and geometric patterns; lower backboard with recessed panels; shelf below with carved edges; carved front legs with fluted cup turnings; and flattened bun feet. Tall case clock has rectangular bonnet with curved top; two carved griffins flanking a heraldic crest atop bonnet; two standing griffins flanking bonnet sides; and circular clock face. Waist section of clock has long rectangular glass window with arched top and bottom; side columns with spiral twists below carved foliate and turned ball elements; and large carved moldings at top and bottom. Rectangular base has carved scroll motif in center recessed panel, large carved bottom molding; scrolled skirt and large paw feet.
