Description

Small 8 x 5 1/2 inch album with 19 black and white photographs, mostly 3x 5 inches. Album documents welcoming of the naval fleet to Provincetown and the official ceremony on Navy Day, July 14, 1934. First page of album says" United States Naval Fleet in Provincetown, MA July 12-1934-August 12, 1934. Governor Joseph B. Ely officially welcoming Fleet to Massachusetts waters July 13, 1934. Rear Admiral Edward H. Campbell, commanding. compliments of William J. Fitzgerald." Features Governor and Mrs. Jospeh B. Ely and Rear Admiral Campbell. Very nice quality with calligraphy labelling the photographs. Many taken on the USS Indianapolis, which famously sank in 1945.
