Square trunk with domed top, hinged lid, and two hinged clasps. Wooden exterior has an embossed leather veneer covering the top, back, and sides. A sheet of metal protects the bottom exterior of the trunk. Leather handles are affixed to each side. Each edge is protected by a black painted metal strap. Horizontal wood braces attached to the top, front, and back. Linen covered interior. Remnants of a red wax seal with "APP" monogram are affixed to either side of the lock. Lock is stamped with a patent date of May 11, 1875. Partial remnants of travel labels affixed to each side. One side has a complete sticker "1158."
