Boston Sea Fencibles Certificate. Picture of a ruin on a hill in Boston Harbor. Five ships are in the harbor along with a lighthouse. On the hill there are two cannons with balls, an anchor and rope, and a small row boat next to a pile of rocks. Written in ink in a serpentine banner is "SAILORS RIGHTS BY SAILORS DEFENDED." "Boston October 8th., 1818. This may certify that Mr. John Austin is a member of the Company of Sea Fencibles, and is enrolled on the Company Book." (signed) "James A. Allen, Secy. and Winslow Lewis, Capt."
