Description

Rectangular overmantel painting, a composition showing a square, hip-roof house, gray with a red roof and yellow chimneys on the lower right. On the left, there is a bay with a two-masted vessel and other small scale full rigged ships. Hills, on the right, slope up to the mountains. At the far left, is a small village along the bay. The beveled edge of the board functions as a frame.

In felt tip pen, on a white round sticker in the back of the board's upper right is: 48 . In pencil, in the upper left is what looks to be: Groton and Eaton/ 1881.
