Description

There are six plates of gardens from historic properties in New England: Longfellow's Garden, Cambridge, Mass., the Moulton Garden, Newburyport, Mass., the Derby Garden, Salem, Mass., the Hoffman Garden, Salem, Mass., the Peabody Garden, Salem, Mass. and the Wendell Garden, Portsmouth, N.H. The descriptions on the plate versos are "Prepared by the editorial staff of the Mentor Association." The Northend article describes gardens more generally from the southern colonies, Pennsylvania, Boston, Salem, Newburyport and New Hampshire.
