It has a rectangular lid with cleated ends and a molded edge with "staple" hinges. It is over a conforming box that is chip-carved with sawtooth rings and a sawtooth front ends, as well as a molded base. Six-board box with no feet. There are no signs of a till. Also, iron lock plate with two keyholes. It is unpainted with an old finish. [see photo neg#47585-A]
