Printed in gold lettering on the front side of the ribbon, "City of Boston/Music/July 4, 1884/Committee". Printed around the gold medal, "Sicut patribus sit deus nobis. Civitatis regimine donate A.D. 1822". Printed in the middle of the medal, "Bostonia condita A.D. 1630". (Weaving, sewing)
