Burgundy silk velvet (somewhat faded to red/brown); high curved brim, curves around neck, and fits close to face; brim is trimmed with band of velvet; high crown points upward; right side of crown is pleated; trimmed at neck and top with striped red gauze ribbon and bow, with ties at neck; brim lined with red silk taffeta; brim also has band of wire and stiffened canvas for support and shaping; crown is lined with white buckram; note that there are three brass pins still remaining in the buckram lining.
